Microsoft has launched an SQL Server 2008 Experience web site offering new resources for customers and partners.
The site is laden with information and is designed to be interesting, rewarding and informative, according to Microsoft, and is available in 11 languages.

These days, a company's data is often its most important asset, and safeguarding and managing that data has become an essential business function for those companies. A good Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution can assist in this task. SharePoint is the fastest-growing ECM solution in the world and in fact is Microsoft's fastest-growing product ever. Such rapid growth is not without problems, both for the company and the SharePoint industry as a whole. The Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC) has just ranked Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as being the value leader, hitting the top spot for price and performance benchmarks and providing the lowest total cost of ownership for an enterprise-class database.

The Microsoft Learning Group announced on its Beta Exam blog a new exam for database developers. Exam 70-433 TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Database Development, registration opens on Sept. 19, with beta testing slated from Sept. 22 to Oct. 10. While in beta, candidates should refer to Exam 71-433.

The three tools include PiNG, an agentless application that can help generate an inventory of software assets, a software categorization library and SQLizer, which can monitor licences of Microsoft’s popular SQL Server database. Softchoice will not be selling the tools as separate products but rolling them into consulting contracts with Canadian and U.S. clients.

Quest Software Inc (NasdaqGS: QSFT), a designer, developer, marketer, distributor and supporter of enterprise systems management software products, disclosed yesterday (8 September) that it has updated its product line to align with the release of SQL Server 2008. The backup and recovery product, LiteSpeed has a new interface, together with its categorisation and analysis capabilities. The next product to be updated is Spotlight that offers insight into performance problems and data, providing tailor made reports. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 has many great new features that will allow you to develop higher performing, more scalable next-generation applications using more than just relational data.
